Bentonite
Bentonite is a chemically decomposed volcanic clay which consists mainly of colloidal silisyum in the form of Montmorillonit group of minerals. It is soft, easily shaped and has a wide variety of applications in industry. Although not limited to, it can be used in below applications :
Binder for casting sand for improving moldability and cohesive strength
Adjusting viscosity of drilling mud
Peletizing iron ore fines- Additive for preventing water leakage in construction such as dams
Adding clarity to beverages (wine, beer, fruit juice, etc.)
As filler material in medicine and paper industries
Additive for cement and ceramic production
Additive for paint and fire retardants
Cleaning of waste water
